PISE was a program of National PTA from 2003-2009. The program gave PTA/PTSAs an opportunity to conduct a self-assessment of the parent involvement program at their school. A team, including principal, teachers, parents, students (in middle and high levels) and a community representative, submitted a self-assessment to National PTA. PTA/PTSAs were recognized at one of two levels: Certification of Excellence - for schools that had outstanding parent involvement practices in place and Recognition of Commitment - for schools that were committed to pursuing excellence in parent involvement. The PISE program has been transitioned to the Hearst Awards.
The certification is for a three (3) year period.
